Contribution to atomic theory
|
Bohr's model introduced the quantum mechanics. Quantum mechanics attempts to describe and account for the properties of molecules and atoms and their constituents; electrons, protons, neutrons and other subatomic partials. He was the first to discover that electrons travel in specific orbits. Although, Bohr's model was not effective because it did not accurately portray the atoms of elements beyond hydrogen.

Bohr also introduce his liquid droplet theory, a theory in which helped the representation of the atom nucleus but also was vital for the development of the atomic bomb. In 1930s, during the rise of Hitler, Bohr's family fled to the United States where there he was hired to work on the first atomic bomb in New Mexico. He was award the Noble Peace Prize by making agreements with the United States and the United Nations over the peace for atoms, to limit the atomic bomb from being used.
